A major problem in Kakuma – and most of Africa –  is post-harvest loss. Grains, maize, sorghum, barley and more either spoil due to the heat or are contaminated due to insects. But there are ways to prevent this by using hermetic storage bags with insecticide-incorporated sealings. One of the suppliers is Vestergaard Zerofly bags. The cost is merely  $2.50 per bag. Our plan is to purchase bags, food stuff, and construct a storage facility to store the bags and distribute food over the year. The group has already raised $400 to finish the construction of a warehouse, and community loans of $500 to purchase the first amounts of grains.
